The founder of Basic Patents.com, Jerry R. Potts, has combined engineering and patent preparation and prosecution experience in excess of 35 years. With an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, an undergraduate degree in Basic Engineering, hands on experience as a research and development engineer, and has been registered to practice patent law before the United States Patent and Trademark Office first as a patent agent and then as a patent attorney since 1973.

We have contacts with associates from around the world who are able to assist our clients in protecting their inventions on an international basis. We provide discounts to corporate clients that are able to provide blocks of patent preparation and prosecution work. Our normal turn around time for preparing a patent application, based upon having received a complete invention disclosure, is four to six weeks.
